GAD-7 Scoring, Graphing, and Administering Now in BON
Once again, Better Outcomes Now (BON) has made life easier for those behavioral health professionals working in primary care, or for those who want to add a specific measure for clients struggling with anxiety. Recall that BON recently added the functionality to administer, score, and graph the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). We are happy to announce that the BON team has added the functionality to administer, score, and graph the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) too.
Why the GAD-7?
The GAD-7 is one of the most frequently used self-reported scales for screening, diagnosis, and severity assessment of anxiety disorder. It can help clinicians objectively determine the severity of a client’s initial anxiety symptoms and aid in monitoring symptom changes throughout the course of therapy.
How Does GAD-7 Scoring Work?
The GAD-7 has seven items that measure the severity of various signs of generalized anxiety disorder.
GAD-7 scoring is calculated first by assigning scores of 0, 1, 2, and 3 to the response categories of ‘not at all’, ‘several days’, ‘more than half the days’, and ‘nearly every day’, respectively, and then adding together the scores for the seven questions.
Scores of 5, 10, and 15 are taken as the cut-off points for mild, moderate, and severe anxiety, respectively. When used as a screening tool, further evaluation is recommended when the score is 10 or greater.
So, whether using the GAD-7 is a requirement in your behavioral health / primary care setting, or you want to target the its use with clients presenting with anxiety symptoms, BON delivers!
