R. Jeff Reese, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Jeff Reese is a psychologist and researcher. He has been affiliated with Better Outcomes Now since its inception, previously serving as Director of Research. He brings over 20 years of experience in training, research, and clinical practice in measurement-based care, with a particular focus on PCOMS.
Dr. Reese earned his PhD from Texas A&M University. He has had a distinguished 26-year academic career at institutions including Abilene Christian University, the University of Kentucky, Auburn University, and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. In addition, he has more than 16 years of administrative experience, most recently serving as Dean and endowed professor in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
He has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and was co-author of The Skilled Helper, a widely used counseling text translated into multiple languages. Dr. Reese is also a Fellow of the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Reese has been a co-investigator of 6 randomized clinical trials and 3 benchmarking studies for PCOMS. Other than PCOMS and client feedback, Dr. Reese’s primary research interests are psychotherapy process/outcome, training and supervision, and the use of telehealth technologies to increase the availability of services for underserved populations. His goal is to continue to expand the influence of PCOMS cross culturally as well as other populations and settings.
